$10 Minimum Wage, Democratic lawmakers have introduced more legislation to raise Michigan's minimum wage to $10 an hour over three years.

The current state minimum wage is $7.40 per hour.

The main sponsors of the legislation announced Thursday are Democratic Reps. John Switalksi of Warren and Rashida Tlaib of Detroit. They say raising the minimum wage would narrow income inequality and give residents "a chance at a better life." A similar bill was introduced by Senate Democrats in February.

Teacher fired for Bible, A substitute teacher in Phillipsburg, N.J., who was sacked for giving a student a Bible filed a complaint this week with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

In his complaint against the Phillipsburg School District, the teacher, Walt Tutka, claims religious discrimination as well as retaliation, reports The Warren Reporter.

Tutka says his persecution began on Oct. 12, a day when he was working as a substitute in the Phillipsburg School District.
